Jewelry Making

Lari's Necklace in ProgressFor some reason, I decided to start building jewelry. This is the first necklace I have started making. I am concerned because I feel like I have no idea as to what I am doing. I would like to take some sort of jewelry making class, because I feel like I have two right hands (I'm left handed) when I'm attempting to do any of this stuff.

I went treasure hunting in Denton, but as a friend pointed out, going to junk stores has become sort of a "chic" thing to do. This makes me sad because that probably explains why all that "junk" is so darn expensive.

The chains and charms you see in the picture, I have all acquired from Michaels. I'm sad that I resorted to buying the charms from Michaels, as I want to make my own. But I sort of gave up and decided I wanted to build something right away.Trinket

So anyways, we were walking out in front of Target the other day, and Scott found this on the ground. I think it looks so cool. It reminds me of some sort of Atlantean civilization. So I'm definitely going to make something out of it. Because it's so brittle, I need to dip it in some sort of resin first.

Well, I'm excited to see if I can get the hang of this and make all sorts of pretty stuff real soon!

(By the way, if anyone I know is reading this, if you have any jewelry or metal "junk" lying around, I'll take it!)

My mom had a jewelry making store in dallas by the temple she likes, called Rock Barrel. She can tell you where it is, its just straight off 75. It has some cool stuff and good prices.

I said you could come over and check the drawers. I have tons of stuff that you could have for free. All you need to do is come over. Martha

How fun! I used to love being crafty! Maybe someday I will again and we can make things together! Glad to see the MLK exhibit went so well! Love the Tweets!
